Christmas Wish List

We came up with a list of fun things we wanted to do together before Christmas. At the top of Joey's list was making sugar cookies with mommy. We added a few more things; see the snow fall at Gaylord, drive around in our pajamas and look at all the Christmas lights, drink hot chocolate, go Christmas caroling, sit on Santa's lap, visit his workshop, see the White House Christmas Tree, watch the trains at the National Botanical Gardens, decorate our very own Christmas tree, watch the Polar Express, make ornaments, and read the nativity. We enjoyed all of this, aside from Christmas caroling. We'll try that one next year and pray for no rain. The important thing is that we were all together.

Christmas on the Potomac

The Gaylord National Harbor Resort has a world renowned attraction called "Ice!" It's made up of two million pounds of hand carved ice sculptures, four ice slides, and a live-carving zone. We avoided paying the exorbitant cost and the chilly nine degrees this year. Perhaps when the kids are little older we'll check that out. But for now, we enjoyed the Christmas light show, indoor snow fall, the ginger bread man, and of course, good ol' St. Nick. This is a new Christmas tradition for our family.   

White House Christmas Tree

This event was at the top of my Christmas list. Though Santa and his elves were a no show due to budget cuts, the White House Christmas tree and village did not disappoint. The boys were intially devastated to not see the jolly gift giver and his friends, however, they were quickly distracted by the array of life-like trains. We couldn't get our little ones to leave those fast moving, choo chooing, authentic looking trains. We'll definitely be back next year, and hopefully, so will Santa. 

This might be my favorite picture of all time. It doesn't get more real than this.
