Kick, kick, kick

Our little man is five months old today. Baby Nico is full of joy. We love to watch his arms and legs wiggle and kick. Anything within reach naturally goes into his mouth. He's especially obsessed with his toes and so am I. Nico's discovering the sound of his voice with all kinds of babbling, coos, and giggles. He's mostly captivated by his playful big brothers, but sometimes they scare him. Having him around makes everyone happier.

O Say Can You See

One of our most favorite things about visiting Grandma Lisa in the summer is celebrating the Fourth of July at the beach. From the parade, people watching, bbq's, watermelon, ice cream, and s'mores, it always proves to be a blast. The most exciting part about all of the festivities is spending time with the people we love.

Time is a funny thing

In the months leading up to our trip, time seemed to stand still. Then the last five days together have flown by in an instant. It's no secret, I'm not a fan of endings or change. I haven't been her next door neighbor for two years and it still feels like I'm burying my feet in the sand and being drug in the opposite direction. I recently read a talk by President Uchtdorf, titled, "Grateful in Any Circumstances." He says, "In light of what we know about our eternal destiny, is it any wonder that whenever we face the bitter endings of life, they seem unacceptable to us? There seems to be something inside of us that resists endings. Why is this? Because we are made of the stuff of eternity. We are eternal beings, children of the Almighty God, whose name is Endless13 and who promises eternal blessings without number. Endings are not our destiny. The more we learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more we realize that endings here in mortality are not endings at all. They are merely interruptions—temporary pauses that one day will seem small compared to the eternal joy awaiting the faithful."

This struck me in a powerful way. It is no wonder then why I am constantly fighting change and endings. They are "merely interruptions."
